Vertical Tutoring

Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

You will probably be aware that from September 2012 we are implementing a system of Vertical Tutoring throughout the school. This decision, which we believe will further support your child’s academic and personal development, was made following a great deal of research, attendance at several educational conferences looking at best practice, consultation with staff, and the implementation and analysis of two pilot vertical tutor groups last September. Although this will be a big change within school, all the evidence indicates that, once pupils have become accustomed to the new system, the benefits to pupils are significant.

London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay

I am writing to remind you of the unique and historical London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay event coming to Chorley, on Friday 1st June 2012.

You may be aware that the torch will pass Parklands and we have been working closely with Chorley Borough Council to ensure that the event is memorable for our school and our community. The torch is due to pass our school on Southport Road at approximately 7.50am and we have been informed that the lane passing Parklands towards Euxton will be closed from approximately 7.30am until approximately 8.15am. This closure will obviously affect travel in and around Chorley and delays are expected.................Click the title for more details
